Journal travels well…

The Travel Journal created by Hunkydory Publishing Ltd for AA Media
is getting ready for its fourth reprint!

First published in 2008, this traveller's companion has certainly 'travelled' well,
with our updated editions being reprinted each year since its introduction at the
Frankfurt Bookfair four years ago.

With its wipeable, illustrated cover and funky design, the journal takes its inspiration
from scrapbooking. There is space for storing holiday or trip photos, captions and a
travel log, as well as favourite bars, eateries and places of interest. As an added twist,
each day is accompanied by a travel-themed quote by a famous person.

We're especially thrilled that the Journal has done so well, after coming up with the
initial idea, supplying the visuals for its Bookfair presentation and preparing it for print.

Pirates in the UK!

Pirates of the Seven Seas, the UK edition of The World Atlas of Pirates has finally arrived in UK bookstores and online! The Lyons Press title did so well in the USA that UK distributors have picked up AA Media's illustrated book about the history of piracy, written by top pirate buff Angus Konstam, illustrated by cartographic illustrator Brian Delf and, of course, put together by the team here at Hunkydory Publishing Ltd.

UK booksellers preferred the alternative book title, so we created a new cover and jacket design and substituted the British, rather than US English text before it went to print.

It's always a pleasure to see a book we've worked on go into new markets, as it makes all the hard work and attention to detail the more worthwhile. Take a look at our books section under The World Atlas of Pirates to see why we're so proud. Fingers crossed the next two in the series of World Atlases from AA Media now see the light of day.

Lunchtime Alien Adventures!

With issue 90 of the successful Ben 10 Alien Adventures partwork going to print, a celebratory lunch was definitely the order of the day!

The editorial team here at Hunkydory Publishing therefore met up with the clients, licensors and some of our external contributors. This included the hardworking Hachette Partworks ladies (Sarah, Gill and Anna), who have managed the project from its initial research stage through to the final issue; Ant and Rachael from Cartoon Network, and our two trusty illustrators, Steve and… another Ant. Unfortunately, series writer Jason Quinn was unable to make it over from (sunny) Spain for the event... we wonder why, with all this rain!

Despite more ants than a picnic, everyone had an enjoyable afternoon, eating tasty Thai food, drinking wine (if we could persuade the waitress!), putting the world to rights and working out who knew the geekiest Ben 10 factoids – Rachael and Rebecca came first, with Stefanie, Sarah and Ant Gardner in close competition for second place. But one thing we were all in agreement about was that putting out the weekly edition of Ben 10 Alien Adventures has been more fun than paid work decently should be.

Roll on similar such projects for Hunkydory Publishing!
